Why a Smart SPIFF Strategy Can Be a Game-Changer (Just Ask Robbins)

How Bailey Brand Consulting helped AHF Products use the Robbins brand to turn a sales incentive into a fully integrated dealer engagement campaign.

Dealer incentive programs are nothing new. Manufacturers across nearly every industry use SPIFFs (Sales Performance Incentive Funds) to encourage retail sales associates to recommend specific products. But too often, these programs amount to little more than an email announcement, a registration page, and a promise of rewards.

The result? Low participation. Limited excitement. And a program that never reaches its full potential.

The most successful SPIFF programs don't simply offer an incentive—they create momentum.

That's exactly what Bailey Brand Consulting helped AHF Products accomplish.

The Challenge

AHF Products, one of North America’s leading manufacturers of hard-surface flooring, wanted to increase sales of several featured engineered hardwood collections from its Robbins brand through a retailer-focused SPIFF program.

The concept was straightforward: Retail sales associates would earn an incentive for every square foot of qualifying Robbins flooring they sold.

But like many manufacturers, AHF recognized that launching a SPIFF is one thing. Driving awareness, participation, and sustained engagement over the life of the program is another.

Success would require more than announcing the promotion. It would require a campaign that kept the program top of mind while reinforcing why Robbins products deserved to be recommended in the first place.

The objective? Strengthen dealer engagement while increasing sales of priority product lines.

What We Did

Bailey Brand Consulting developed a comprehensive communications strategy that transformed the SPIFF into an integrated marketing campaign for AHF Products, with the Robbins brand as the centerpiece.

Rather than relying on a single touchpoint, we mapped messaging across every stage of the dealer journey from initial awareness through ongoing participation and program completion.

The campaign included:

  • A dedicated landing page with program details, registration information, featured products, and ongoing updates.
  • Sell sheets and campaign flyers that made the program easy to understand and promote in the field.
  • An email campaign that began with program introduction, followed by weekly reminders during launch and monthly engagement updates throughout the promotion.
  • Sales talking points and phone scripts to help internal teams consistently encourage participation.
  • Brand videos combining SPIFF information with compelling product storytelling.
  • Leave-behind materials and promotional reminders that kept the program visible long after the initial launch.
  • Consumer-facing assets (including in-store signage, digital graphics, and social media content) that supported demand generation while reinforcing the Robbins brand.

Turning Incentives Into Engagement

A successful SPIFF is about more than rewarding behavior after the sale. It's about influencing behavior before the recommendation ever happens.

That meant highlighting the qualities that make Robbins an easy product to sell:

  • More than 135 years of flooring expertise
  • Beautiful engineered hardwood flooring that combines performance with designer-inspired style
  • A 50-year residential warranty for long-term peace of mind
  • Timeless, durable flooring that's easy to install and maintain
  • Distinctive featured collections—including Noble's Way, Nature's Canvas, and Coastside—each with its own unique design story and customer appeal

By pairing product education with ongoing program communication, the campaign gave retail sales associates more reasons to recommend Robbins—not simply because they earned an incentive, but because they understood the value behind the products themselves.

The Outcome

The result was a coordinated marketing experience that helped AHF Products keep retailers engaged, strengthened the Robbins brand, and supported sales throughout the duration of the campaign.

Because the most effective SPIFF programs are built around communication, consistency, and making it easy for dealers to stay excited, informed, and motivated from beginning to end.

For manufacturers looking to energize their dealer network, a well-designed incentive may start the conversation, but a smart marketing strategy is what keeps it going.
