Why Digital Video Continues to Dominate in 2020

Despite disruption caused to businesses around the world by the ongoing pandemic, digital video continues to dominate and is a growing trend in the digital marketing space. According to eMarketer, adults in the U.S. are expected to consume just over two hours of digital video content per day this year, which represents an increase of 19 minutes over 2019.

“Unlike TV, time spent with digital video will continue to increase after the pandemic,” eMarketer writes. “By 2022, U.S. viewers will spend 2 hours, 10 minutes per day on digital video. Most of these gains will come from connected devices like connected TVs and game consoles.”

This perspective is reinforced by Q1 spending estimates, which show an industrywide increase in video advertising of between 10.5% and 17%. This positive momentum highlights an unmistakable underlying trend: video is one of the best ways for brands to engage with their audience today. Our recent blog post, Why Brands Can’t Afford to Ignore Video offers additional insight into how companies can strengthen their digital video marketing efforts.
